Battered Fish FiletsIngredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 5 fish filets such as flounder
  • Cooking oil, for frying
  • Lemon slices

To Make

  1. Fill a large skillet with cooking oil about halfway to the top. Heat to medium-high (should reach about 365°F).
  2. Oil is ready for frying when water droplets sizzle as they hit the pan.
  3. Coat fish filets in batter and plate. Gently place each in the hot oil to fry for about 2 minutes on each side.
  4. Use a spatula to carefully flip, and fry to golden. Place on a paper-towel lined plate to drain the grease.

Serve with lemon slices and favorite condiments and sides, such as ketchup, tartar sauce, bang bang sauce, coleslaw, rice.
