Ingredients

  • 5 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 4 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 cups Parmesan cheese
  • 6 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 package lasagna noodles
  • Salt and pepper

To Make

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook ground beef, onion and garlic in a skillet until meat is browned all the way through. Season with oregano, salt and pepper.
  3. Add tomato sauce to the meat mixture. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 30 minutes.
  4. Cook lasagna noodles following the package directions. Spoon a thin layer of sauce into a Pyrex baking dish.
  5. Layer on meat sauce, Parmesan, fresh parsley and basil, and mozzarella. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used.
  6. The top layer should be mozzarella for the best results and presentation.
  7. Bake at 350°F for about 35 minutes or until bubbly and browned at the edges.
  8. Sprinkle on more Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs before serving.
